In 1982, Mr Noor Ahmed opened his first restaurant, the Moghul, in Great Victoria Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland and placed Mr Abdul Kabir as the Manager of the business.

Mr Ahmed, his son Farooq and Mr Kabir created a partnership as owner operators in the first of the Indian Ocean Group’s restaurants situated in Carrickfergus. Since its establishment in 1996, the Indian Ocean Group has always been known for its consistent style of cooking and culinary delights. The Group’s chefs have received excellent training in this specific style of catering and the restaurants are of a very high specification fit out. As a result of these qualities, the Indian Ocean Group has acquired the status of being one of the leading eating establishments which specialises in Asian cuisine in Northern Ireland.

The first branch of the Indian Ocean Group to open was that in Carrickfergus, which opened in 1996, and which has since been refurbished. In 2002, the Group opened its second branch in the popular venue of the Odyssey in the Belfast City. This was followed by the opening of the third highly regarded and innovative branch in Glengormley in 2006. All three branches provide an excellent setting in which to dine, with a very distinctive Indian Oceanic theme throughout, complete with water features, marble touches, ceiling drapes and eastern sounds.
